Tillamook County is home to Salmon fishing in 3 bays (Tillamook, Nestucca, Nehalem), 5 rivers (Wilson, Trask, Kilchis, Nestucca, Nehalem) and the Pacific Ocean. And yes, all within 20 minutes of Tillamook! It’s an easy drive from anywhere on the northern Oregon coast from Astoria to Lincoln City and also from Portland. My 25” sled (jetboat) is the perfect size for chasing fish no matter where they are in the fishery. We just follow them as they move through the system, from the salt water to the freshwater. In November we’ll add the drift boat, which allows us to fish farther upriver, usually on the Wilson, Trask, or Nestucca. We’ve still got a lot of fall fishing days ahead of us.
Tillamook has already provided some nice salmon fishing opportunities this fall. In fact, fishing has possibly been the best we’ve seen in the past 3-4 years. The current forecast is for sunny skies with some 80° days this week, making for some beautiful fall days at the coast. This is the time of year when we throw the crab pots out when possible, and there’s no extra charge to add that perk to your trip. Fresh Salmon + Fresh Dungeness Crab = A Seafood Smorgasbord. It’s just one of the reasons we love Fall salmon fishing in Tillamook.
