The Columbia River is a vital pathway for Salmon, Steelhead and Sturgeon. As a fishing guide and fishing charter operator on the Columbia River, our connection to the Columbia River and its fish populations is inseparable. Needless to say, it’s not just us. The tribes, businesses of all types and the general public are connected spiritually, culturally and economically to the Columbia River and dependent on the health of Salmon, Steelhead and Sturgeon stocks.
Our future is dependent on new generations of managers and scientists coming into fields relating to fisheries with the heart to help make Columbia River fisheries sustainable. Unfortunately, we don’t feel like the higher education system is doing a great job of preparing future managers, and we as a business want to do our part in helping future generations with a more comprehensive understanding.
For that reason, Lance Fisher Fishing is offering a $500 scholarship to one member of Columbia River High School’s graduating class, to be used toward his/her first term of college. To learn more about Lance Fisher Fishing, please visit our homepage.
A requirement and extra benefit of this scholarship is that the recipient spends a day fishing on the water with Lance Fisher, learning about some of these issues. Ongoing scholarship opportunities may exist for candidates who continue on the path toward their fisheries management degree or equivalent.
