We’ve had a pretty mild winter so far, with a few great rain systems and also some beautiful crisp days. No matter the weather, it’s the perfect time to wrangle some big fish in the Portland area, where conditions have created some pretty nice fishing opportunities for sturgeon.
The Willamette River has been the place to be for sturgeon fishing the past month. We have had some of the most beautiful winter weather and some epic battles where we reeled in fish up to 7’ long! This isn’t just any catch and release fishery. White sturgeon are the largest freshwater fish in North America, and you can spend the day wrangling them to the boat. There’s no other experience like a day of sturgeon fishing, no matter your age or ability. Take home photos and videos to share with your friends and family, and memories that will last a lifetime. The season is just getting started as these monsters will spend the next 6 months in the Willamette River. We’ll be sturgeon fishing in the Portland area through the spring of 2026, even running some combo trips once the Springer season opens.
As we head into February, we’re looking forward to continued sturgeon fishing opportunities in the Portland area. Bring your family or friends, bundle up in layers, and enjoy some time on the water in the Pacific Northwest.
