Oregon Summer Fishing is in Full Swing

Salmon and Bottom Fish on the Trophy Board in Tillamook

While some may be waiting for the Ocean Salmon Season to open up this Saturday, June 22nd, we’ve been staying busy fishing for salmon and bottom fish in Tillamook, and Trophy Sturgeon in Astoria. Once the Pacific Ocean opens up for salmon, we’ll have even more fishing opportunities at the Oregon Coast.

Tillamook Fishing

Tillamook is a special place to fish. Within 20 minutes of the city of Tillamook, we have 5 rivers, Tillamook Bay, Nehalem Bay, and the Pacific Ocean to choose from. Weather and conditions permitting, we can get out fishing every day of the year. Summer is one of the busiest times with opportunity for salmon, halibut, lingcod, and various bottom fish. We’ll continue fishing for those species through the summer and into the fall. Some trips we target a single species and other times we can get out for combo trips. Sometimes the trips turn themselves into combos when hitchhikers show up. Always fun to bring up a lingcod that decided it didn’t want to let go of its lunch. Let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll do our best to find the perfect trip.

Astoria Fishing

Our world-class Catch and Release Trophy Sturgeon season is keeping our lines tight and our action busy. The Columbia River Estuary is the place to be for bait fish and that means the big fish are there as well. Sometimes we hit the perfect spot and end up with multiple fish on at the same time. The dance that happens in the boat during that is almost as much fun as bringing in the fish 🙂 We’ll fish for sturgeon on the Columbia River through July before targeting salmon at Buoy 10. If you’d like to get out on the ocean for some salmon fishing before August, the season opens up this weekend. We’re excited to go after the salmon before they head to the Columbia River. Happy to get you out for some pre-Buoy 10 Salmon action.

A little bit inland, Steelhead fishing on the Columbia River and Lewis River should be good through the end of July.
