Astoria, Oregon, at the mouth of the Columbia River is one of the great fishing destinations in the world. It boasts five runs of Salmon, and a world-class Sturgeon fishery, along with rock fish, ling cod, halibut, tuna, and crabbing. Couple fantastic fishing with plentiful accommodations and great food and you’ll see why Astoria is a great place to visit. Astoria Spring Salmon

March – April

Considered the finest tasting of all Salmon, Spring Chinook are targeted beginning in March.

Astoria Halibut

May

This short season offers some great opportunities for halibut fishing. We often include bottom fishing in the same trip.

Astoria Bottom Fish

May – October

Tillamook Head, just below Seaside, and the Astoria Canyon are just a short ride in Legion’s Mercy and offer some excellent fishing for rockfish and lingcod. We also run combo trips, adding salmon fishing to the day.

Astoria Sturgeon

June – July

An incredible catch and release fishery that boasts huge numbers and trophy size fish. Fish 50-150 pounds are very common.

Astoria Ocean Salmon

June – August

Coho or Silver and Chinook or King Salmon are available starting in June. This is one of the top ocean Salmon fisheries in the world.

Astoria Albacore Tuna

late July – October

Legion’s Mercy will get you out to the fishing grounds quickly so you can spend the day targeting tuna. We have plenty of room in the ice box to load up with tuna.

Astoria Buoy 10 Fall Salmon

August – September

1-2 million Salmon will make their way into the Columbia River during the months of August and September. Some years we run into the middle of October. This might be the most popular Salmon fishery in North America.
